About

This website, Dave Vance Racing, contains everything involved with my dirt track racing. I have posted photos of me building the race cars, after accidents, during repairs and on the track. I also upload videos of my racing, when available.

After going to 85 Speedway as a spectator in 1997, I instantly got the bug to start racing. Within a few days, I bought a shelled-out street car, an early ’80s Chevy Caprice Classic, and immediately got to work building the car. I funded the entire building of the car myself and did the majority of the work. My dad and a friend helped me with a few things, when one person couldn’t do it. I completed the car and was ready to race the first race of the season at 85 Speedway in Ennis, TX on March 15, 2008. I raced in the Cruiser division as #80.

During the 2008 season, I built a second race car, a 1976 Monte Carlo. I took it out to the track a few times, but decided to stick with my first car and give my dad the second car.

The 2008 season was my rookie season. I managed to finish the season in 5th place and was one of only two rookies to finish in the top 10 in the 2008 season. I only missed two nights of racing during the regular season’s 27 race nights, which were the last two nights of the regular season.

I made every regular season race during the 2009 season and finished in 4th place overall in the Cruiser division. I will be racing off and on during the 2010 season and my dad will use the car to race most nights.
